Dr. Jean Claude Scicluna, MD is a medical doctor with an MSc in Pain Management(USW) and a PG Diploma in Healthcare Technology & Innovation. A public health activist from a young age, he co-founded the Malta Heart Foundation in 2016 as a medical student and implemented the largest public AED infrastructure project in the country. He has worked in drug policy, serving as the Medical Consultant for the Maltese Government’s Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis, where he co-wrote and implemented the EU’s first legal cannabis framework and represented his country at the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) plenaries in Vienna. A medicinal cannabis prescriber since 2019, he combines his expertise with a passion for innovation and care of his patients. He is a published author and his work on cannabinoids in Fibromyalgia has been included in a special issue in Xjenza (Maltese for “Science”) journal dedicated to top scientists in Malta. Jean Claude enjoys sports and has been the football team club doctor for Hamrun FC, Maltese national champions with UEFA Champions League experience.
